Bangladesh U-23 team are looking forward to a couple of practice matches before the AFC Championships qualifiers in March next year, said the national team head coach Jamie Day after conducting a four-day training camp that concluded in Dhaka Thursday.

Bangladesh were placed in a tough group along with Bahrain, Palestine and Sri Lanka in the first round of the AFC U-23 Championships qualifiers, scheduled to be held in Bahrain from March 22 to 26.

“We might have to look for a match in January if possible. They will need a couple of games if we can get them,” the 39-year old English coach was quoted as saying by Bangla Tribune.

He added that he is happy with the outcome of the short training camp held at Kamalapur Stadium.

Day continued, “Enjoyed seeing the players I have worked with already, and also looking at some of the new ones. It’s been an enjoyable few days. They now have to go back to clubs and stay in the first team, or if not starting try to get a place in the team for the league matches.”
