U-19 girls end AFC Qualifiers campaign with win

Bangladesh girls concluded their AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers first round with a resounding 5-1 win over host Tajikistan Sunday.

The girls in red and green had already exited in the first round of qualifiers after two consecutive defeats in Group D but ensured of bowing out with a consolation win, thanks to a hat-trick by Monika Chakma.

Srimoti Krishna Rani Sarkar, who missed the 7-0 and 2-0 defeats against South Korea and Chinese Taipei respectively due to suspension, opened the scoring in the eighth minute.

Monika then joined in the party, netting in the 26th and 42nd minute, before the home side made it 3-1 a minute before the break. 

Shamsunnahar bagged Bangladesh’s fourth goal in the 57th minute before Monika completed her treble in the 75th minute.
