Bangladesh made a disappointing start in the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Qualifiers as they were thrashed by a strong South Korean outfit. The powerhouse of Asian football blew away the girls in red and green 7-0 in their opening match of the first round of qualifiers in Tajikistan Wednesday.

Bangladesh were on the back foot very early in the game as the South Koreans got off the mark in the eighth minute at Pamir Stadium, in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The east Asian team sealed a complete domination by scoring two more goals in the 17th and 21st minute, but Bangladesh somehow stemmed the flow of goals till the break.

However, South Korea seemed to be even more ruthless in the second half as they intensified their attack. The result was inevitable as they scored a flurry of goals, scoring the third, fourth, fifth and sixth in the 68th, 70th and 80th minute respectively.

The intensity was visible even in injury time as they successfully converted a spot kick to complete the rout. Bangladesh, who are pitted in group D, will play their second match against Chinese Taipei Friday and their last match of the group will be held Sunday against host Tajikistan.
