Bangladesh U18 women’s football team returned back to Dhaka, as the unbeaten winners of the Saff U18 Women’s Championship to a champion’s welcome which included members of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) at the Hazrat Shah-Jalal International airport on Monday morning.
The U18 girls defeated Nepal U18 in the final of the tournament 1-0, which was held at Bhutan. The tournament got off to a flying start for the Bangladeshi U18 girls as they defeated Pakistan U18 17-0. Their second game was a much more even affair against eventual finalists Nepal which they won 2-1.
As a result, the U18 girls became their group champions and went on to face hosts Bhutan in the semi-finals where they comfortably won 4-0.
The tournament was played between six teams – Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal in group B and India, Bhutan and Maldives in group A.
