Bangladesh beat Bahrain 10-0 in their first match before beating Lebanon and the UAE 8-0 and 7-0 respectively

Bangladesh have maintained a dominating winning run in the AFC U-16 Women's Championship qualification round but their fate will depend on the final match of the round against Vietnam that will be staged at Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur Sunday.

Both the teams have won their previous three games and scored exactly 25 goals each while keeping three clean sheets. So a tie-breaker will be needed to decide the group champion of the Group F if Sunday's match ends in a draw, in accordance with the by-laws of the AFC.

Bangladesh beat Bahrain 10-0 in their first match before beating Lebanon and the UAE 8-0 and 7-0 respectively, while Vietnam started with a 4-0 victory against the UAE before razing Bahrain 14-0 and Lebanon 7-0 accordingly.

The six group champions will move to the next round along with the two best runners-up sides and these eight teams will fight in the second round for the four places to join the four automatic qualifiers in the tournament proper in Thailand.

Bangladesh U-16 women’s team head coach Golam Rabbani Choton however, was thinking only about maintaining their impressive winning run. He was aware of the opponent’s strength and urged his charges not to squander the opportunities.

“We will take the field not for a draw, but only for the win. If the girls can play their natural game we will become group champion,” said the coach at a press conference Saturday.

“We got a lot of chances in the previous three games, but we may not get enough chances against strong opponents, so we have to utilise whatever chances we get against Vietnam.”
