The Ascent Corporate 5-a-side Soccer Cup is all set for its 13th edition to kick-off at Scholastica’s Uttara campus on Thrusday. One of the most popular amateur football tournaments in the corporate world will be bigger than ever with the most number of participants in the events history.
A total of 55 corporate teams will be vying for the title with as many as 440 players comprising mostly of corporate executives. They will be representing their respective teams during the ten-day long meet which will conclude on August 11 with the grand finale.
A total 52 teams took part in the 2014 edition which featured the highest number of participants among the previous editions while last year's edition saw 44 corporate houses fight for the title with Comfit Composite Knit Limited becoming champions.
Holders Comfit got placed in Group A along with Fareast Finance and Bitopi Advertising Limited during the draw held in the capital on Monday. Former champions and tournament media partner, Dhaka Tribune have been placed in Group O along with Euro Vigil (Pvt) Limited, Aarong Diary and Multimode Group.
The official press conference was also held along with the draw where title sponsor Ascent Group director Amer Ahmed was present along with Biplob Kumar Roy, CEO of TVS Auto Bangladesh and Zaireen Sultana Lupa, Assistant Director, Marketing Communications, Dhaka Regency Hotel & Resort also graced the occasion.
