Mymensingh win big in JFA U-14 Championship

Mymensingh thrashed Lakshmipur 8-0 in the final round of the JFA U-14 Championship at Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Kamalapur Stadium in Dhaka Friday. Ety led the way with a hattrick, scoring in the 16th, 21st and 29th minute, while Selima bagged a brace, netting in the fifth and 49th minute. Salma, Aniya and Hafsa also scored in the 13th, 58th and 64th minute respectively. Meanwhile in the other match of the day at the same venue, Rangpur and Khulna played out a 2-2 draw. Rangpur raced to a 2-0 lead, courtesy strikes from Bristy and Nasrin in the third and 28th minute respectively, before Khulna brought parity in the 62nd minute through Aklima. Aklima earlier reduced the arrears in the 51st minute.

In Saturday's matches, Thakurgaon and Magura will face off against each other at 2pm while Tangail will lock horn with Rajshahi at 3:45pm. The group stage matches will conclude Saturday following which the semis will take place Sunday. The final will be held Tuesday. The champion will receive Tk50,000 while the runners-up side will get Tk25,000. The participating teams of the final round will each pocket Tk20,000. The zonal round of the championship took place from April 24-27 this year. The six zonal champions, along with the two best runners-up sides qualified for the final round.
