Tangail reached the semi-final of the JFA Cup U-14 Championship after beating Magura and Thakurgaon Tuesday and Thursday respectively at Kamalapur Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka. After defeating Magura 8-0, Tangail followed it up with a 3-1 victory over Thakurgaon to reach the last four.
Shaheda, who scored four goals against Magura, gave Tangail the lead in the 17th minute before Kalpana brought parity in the 39th minute. The first half ended 1-1.
Ratna however, bagged a brace, scoring in the 65th and 67th minute to give her side all three points. In the other match Thursday, Magura beat Rajshahi 1-0.
Mymensingh will face Lakshmipur Friday at 2pm at the same venue while Rangpur will lock horn with Khulna at 3:45pm. A day later, Rajshahi will take on Tangail.
The group stage matches will conclude Saturday following which the semis will take place Sunday. The final will be held Tuesday.
The champion will receive Tk50,000 while the runners-up side will get Tk25,000. The participating teams of the final round will each pocket Tk20,000.
The zonal round of the championship took place from April 24-27 this year. The six zonal champions, along with the two best runners-up sides qualified for the final round.
Group A comprises Rangpur, Khulna, Mymensingh and Lakshmipur while Tangail, Rajshahi, Thakurgaon and Magura make up Group B.
