Bangladesh football outfit Uttar Baridhara Club reached the semi-final of the 16th Gold Cup Tournament in Nepal Saturday. They beat Nepal's Sudur Pochim Sporting Club 2-1 in the quarter-final.
Uttar Baridhara's foreign recruits Midi and Shila netted one apiece to book their semi berth, slated for Wednesday. The Bangladesh club received a bye right till the last eight of the tournament.
It should be mentioned that Uttar Baridhara fought against all odds to qualify for the last four. In the late stage of the quarter-final, Uttar Baridhara were reduced to nine men following two red cards while there was injury time of 12 minutes.
What's more, the home side also received a penalty in the dying moments but Uttar Baridhara goalkeeper Osman saved it to ensure their place in the last four.
