Valdes disappears from social media after retirement announcement

Former Barcelona and Manchester United star Victor Valdes has retired from football - and lived up to a promise by immediately deleting his social media accounts, according to mirror.co.uk. The World Cup and three-time Champions League winner made a vow that he'd leave all social media behind when he called it a day. He tweeted a picture of a road accompanied with the caption, “thanks for everything.”The now former goalkeeper was most recently seen at Middlesbrough , and played 28 times as Boro were relegated from the Premier League last season. Valdes, 35, has been without a club since leaving Middlesbrough last May. And despite having offers on the table to continue his career, on New Year’s Day he ironically took to social media to announce he was hanging up his gloves.And after weighing up his options during the current campaign, Valdes has announced his retirement from the game by deleting his Twitter and Instagram profiles, with the World Cup winner believed to be eyeing a quiet life away from football.
