Bangladesh girls vow to win Saff U-15 final for deceased Sabina

Update : 24 Dec 2017, 05:07 PM
If everything had fallen into place, Sabina Yeasmin was supposed to have been a part of the Bangladesh side that reached the grand finale of the Saff U-15 Championship. But as fate would have it, she breathed her last this year on September 26, at the young age of 14. The Kolsindur footballer might not be here with her teammates but they haven't forgotten their good friend, to whom they want to dedicate the Saff U-15 trophy if they beat India in the final at Kamalapur Stadium in Dhaka Sunday.

Ahead of the final, Bangladesh captain Maria Manda said the thoughts and memories of Sabina are a source of inspiration to the home side, who have scored 12 goals in three matches, and conceded none to script a 100% winning record en route to the final. "If Sabina was with us here today, then our team would have been more strong. We will play for her and want to dedicate the trophy to her," said Maria at the pre-final press conference at BFF House in Motijheel Saturday.
