AFC president Sheikh Salman arrives in Dhaka

President of the Asian Football Confederation, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al Khalifa arrived in Dhaka Sunday for a two-day visit. Sheikh Salman, who is also the vice president of world football’s governing body Fifa, set foot in the Bangladesh capital from Kolkata, India after watching the grand finale of the U-17 World Cup between England and Spain Saturday.

This is the first visit of any top executive of world football since former Fifa president Sepp Blatter, who came to Bangladesh five years ago to inaugurate the astroturf ground adjacent to the BFF House in Motijheel. Sheikh Salman, elected AFC president four years ago, will meet the BFF executive committee members Monday before addressing the media at 2:30pm. BFF president Kazi Salahuddin has said the visit of Sheikh Salman is very important for Bangladesh football.
