Bangladesh girls leave for Kathmandu today

Update : 17 Dec 2015, 06:54 PM

With the aim of lifting the AFC Under-14 Girls’ Regional Championship, Bangladesh will leave here for Kathmandu today to contest the grand finale against Nepal this Sunday.

The final was slated for April 25 this year but it was pushed back later owing to a devastating earthquake in the hilly nation of Nepal.

The Bangladesh girls had scripted a dream run in the tournament, defeating Iran and Bhutan and drawing against India.

And head coach Golam Rabbani Choton uttered words of confidence after preparing his charges for the best part of the last two weeks.

“Before leaving for the tournament in April, we told that we would play in the final and we did it because we have the quality. The form is still there. We have been training for the last two weeks. The players are in the top of their game and I think we have the quality to bring the title home,” said Choton yesterday.

Captain Krishna Rani Sarkar said, “We have fulfilled our purpose. There is no fear in the team and we are going there for the win. Hopefully we will return as champions.”
