Bangladesh Under-13 football team came from behind against Brazilian side Corinthians to reach the semi-finals of the Super Mokh Cup plate round at National Sports Council Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday.
In the 70-minute affair, Zihan scored one each in either half to overturn the early goal conceded against a physically and technically stronger Brazilian outfit.
The kids in red and green will now face Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, whose senior side just contested the Uefa Champions League group-stages, in the semi-final today morning. Zagreb clinched their last-four spot after defeating Uzbekistan side Buniyadkor FC 2-0 yesterday.
It was not the best of starts for Bangladesh against the Brazilians who took the lead from a free-kick with 13 minutes into the clock.
Bangladesh though, then started to get organised and had better possession of the ball and the equaliser duly arrived at the half-hour mark through Zihan. Zihan bagged his brace and the match-winning goal in the 43rd minute.
Bangladesh head coach SM Zakaria expressed hope that they would reach the plate final. “Team performance is getting better day by day and the players are now more acquainted with the field environment, which helped them to register this historical win. We hope that our players will play a better game [today] and reach the plate finals,” said Zakaria.
Meanwhile, earlier yesterday, Bangladesh thrashed Kroan side Suwon S. B’wings 5-0 in their first match of the plate round.
