Italian Fabio to replace De Kruif?

Update : 09 Sep 2015, 06:55 PM

Dutch coach Lodewijk de Kruif's stint with the Bangladesh football team is unlikely to be prolonged further. Last Tuesday's 2018 Fifa World Cup second round qualifier between the Bengal Tigers and Jordan, in all likelihood, could be the Dutchman's final match as Bangladesh head coach.

Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin confirmed the recent development yesterday, saying, “I do not think Kruif is staying any more. Nothing however, has been finalised as of yet.

Rumours started doing the rounds yesterday that Italian coach Fabio Lopez might take over the role of temporary coach of Bangladesh following meetings between him and the BFF.

The 42-year old Fabio previously worked as the youth coach of the Italian Academy Club, affiliated to top-flight club AS Roma. After serving as a scout for Atalanta BC and ACF Fiorentina from 2004-2007, the former goalkeeping coach began his Pro coaching career with a Lithuanian club in 2007.
