Records galore in Mirpur

Update : 17 Apr 2015, 08:56 PM

Records tumbled at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday when Bangladesh took on Pakistan in the first of three one-day internationals.

With Bangladesh struggling at 67/2 in 20 overs, Mushfiqur Rahim arrived to the crease and stitched together a record-creating 178-run stand alongside Tamim Iqbal for the third wicket. This is not only Bangladesh’s highest partnership for the third wicket but also the best ever for any wicket in ODIs.

Bangladesh rode on the back of Tamim and Mushfiq’s partnership to post 329/6 from their allotted 50 overs. This is the Tigers’ highest ever total in one-day internationals.

Both Tamim and Mushfiq smashed hundreds yesterday, the first instance of two Bangladesh cricketers scoring hundreds in the same ODI. With 4257 runs, Tamim is now the Tigers’ highest run-scorer in ODIs, surpassing Shakib’s tally of 4204 runs. Tamim’s 135-ball 132 is his fifth ODI hundred and he is now just one shy of Shakib’s six which is the highest for a Bangladesh batsman. Mushfiq scored his third and is joint-third on the list, alongside Mohammad Ashraful.
