A match to remember

Update : 09 Mar 2015, 07:03 PM

Bangladesh arrived as the nemesis, or, the inescapable agent of downfall of England again yesterday. With the superb win, Bangladesh proved to be the arch-rivals of England in the World Cup as England remained as the lone Test-playing nation to be beaten by Bangladesh twice.

Highest individual scores for Bangladesh in World Cup

March 9 will remain as a golden day for Bangladesh as Mahmudullah slammed the first ton for Bangladesh, against England in a World Cup match. Having started the journey in 1999 and after playing 30 matches, Bangladesh saw the first century in a World Cup match.

The match will be underlined as a royal one as Mushfiqur Rahim’s 89 also entered the list as the third highest one.

Best bowling figures for Bangladesh in WC

Rubel Hossain’s 4 for 53 against England is the third best bowling figures for Bangladesh in the World Cup. Although Shafiul Islam’s 4/21 against Ireland four years ago remains at the top, Mashrafe bin Mortaza and Rubel’s efforts are more praiseworthy because those efforts helped Bangladesh to beat India and England respectively.
