National left-arm spinner Taijul Islam was struck on his left wrist while batting in the nets yesterday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. The 22-year-old from Natore was immediately taken for an X-ray as the injured area swelled up.
However, it was learnt Taijul’s blow is not severe and his training will not be interrupted and the scan is just “precautionary”.
“I was struck on my finger while batting in the nets. The weather was very cold today (yesterday) that’s why the pain was severe but it is nothing serious. I will be able to continue with my training,” Taijul later informed.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, who had a knee operation on December 29, 2014, will not travel with the World Cup squad to Australia but join the team after four days following a medical appointment with Dr David Young in Melbourne. Tamim will leave Dhaka for Melbourne on January 25, a day after Bangladesh national team fly for Australia.
