With just three rounds left, the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League has reached its climax. A lot will be at stake when table-toppers Abahani face third-placed Prime Doleshwar at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.
Prime Doleshwar will be more confident of the two sides as they won both their Super League matches. Abahani on the other hand lost their previous match.
With 20 points, Abahani occupy top spot while Prime Doleshwar are third with 18 points.
The clash between second-placed Prime Bank and fourth-placed Kalabagan Cricket Academy in Fatullah will also be of equal importance. Prime Bank are second with 20 points while Kalabagan CA have four points fewer.
The other Super League encounter will pit Mohammedan against Legends of Rupganj at BKSP.
On the eve of the crucial match against the Sky Blues, Prime Doleshwar skipper Mushfiqur Rahim said he is confident of a win.
“Every match is important for us as each of the sides in the Super League phase are equal strength-wise. It is important to do well in all the three departments of the game. We were not able to play well earlier but we have managed to win the last two games and definitely tomorrow’s (today’s) match is a big one for us. If we can play as we did in the previous two matches then I am confident of winning this game,” said Mushfiq yesterday.
The Bangladesh Test captain went on to praise his teammates along with the management of the club. Mushfiq also informed that the professional attitude exhibited by the players has helped the club to produce consistent performances.
Meanwhile, Prime Bank will target a win in their match against Kalabagan CA, whose title hopes are also alive. Like Abahani, Prime Bank also lost their previous match.
In the other tie, Mohammedan, who are already out of the title race, are up against Shakib al Hasan’s Legends of Rupganj, who are technically still not out of title contention.
