Update : 21 Nov 2014, 10:43 PM

Abul Hasan’s five-wicket haul enabled Legends of Rupganj to keep their Dhaka Premier League winning streak intact as they beat title contenders Abahani Limited by three wickets to complete four wins out of four matches.

Prime Doleshwar SC and Victoria SC also won their respective matches on a day that saw no team across the three matches exceed the 200-mark.

Legends of Rupganj v Abahani, Fatullah

Hasan’s five-for at the expense of 32 runs restricted Abahani to 186 before the Sky Blues threatened a comeback by picking up quick wickets in the latter stages. However, No 7 batsman Sharifullah’s calm 54 guided the defending champions to 189 for seven.

Abahani skipper Ziaur Rahman was the standout performer with 51 runs and three wickets while the other notable batsmen are Nasir Hossain (30), Farhad Hossain (39) and Raqibul Hasan (28).

Rupganj were in a spot of bother at 94 for five before Alok Kapali (38) and Nazmul Milon (21) supported Sharifullah who guided the side to top of the table.

Brothers v Prime Doleshwar, BKSP-4

Brothers opener Avishek Mitra scored his season best 50, but the club only made 159 losing eight wickets in 50 overs. The Doleshwar bowlers enjoyed regular breakthroughs which at the same time tied the run-rate down.

In reply, Doleshwar were cruising to their target before right-handed seamer Iftekhar Sajjad struck four times to spice up the proceedings. The eventual winners were reeling at 126 for six before English recruit Dawid Malan secured their third win with an unbeaten 46.

Sheikh Jamal v Victoria SC, BKSP-3

Victoria dominated Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in their eight-wicket victory at BKSP. Opting to bat first, Jamal were bundled out for

185 on the back of left-arm spinner Sohrawardi Shuvo’s 4-22. Sohag Gazi, batting at number seven, scored the highest 45 while Abu Sayeem and Shahriar Nafees posted 43 and 33 respectively.

The target never troubled Victoria who rode on the 125-run second wicket partnership between Mahbubul Karim and Marshal Ayub to land the win, their second in the season, in the 37th over.

Mahbubul scored 66 while Marshal smashed an unbeaten 72 off 103 balls that included five fours and two sixes. Gazi, in his second match of the league, bowled six overs and took a wicket giving away 24 runs.
