'Shakib's ban to play abroad to be lifted upon appeal'

Update : 11 Nov 2014, 09:42 AM

Bangladesh Cricket Board will consider lifting the ban on all rounder Shakib Al Hasan from participating in overseas leagues if he appeals to the board, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon has said.

The BCB chief made the statement in response to a query of journalists after he arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal airport from Dubai.

Shakib was banned by the BCB from all cricket activities for six months and barred from playing matches abroad till the end of the next year on charge of breaching rules.

Later, the BCB reduced his ban on domestic plays by three months.

Earlier in July, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha complained that Shakib had threatened him with quitting playing for the Tigers.

Shakib made the alleged threat after the coach asked him to join the national team's training camp on August 1. The CPL runs from July 11 to August 16.

The cricketer admitted that he had initially reacted angrily with Hathurusingha; however, later realised his mistake and apologised to the coach.
