The First Division Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis will get underway at four venues in Dhaka today. 20 teams divided into four groups will take part in the competition.
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan will inaugurate the tournament at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium with Surjo Tarun Club facing Talent Hunt Academy in the opening fixture.
Besides the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, matches will also take place at the BKSP 3 and 4 grounds alongside the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah. Each venue will host two matches everyday.
Surjo Tarun, Talent Hunt, Cricket Coaching School, Agrani Bank Cricket Club and BKSP are in Group A while Group B comprises of City Club, Bangladesh Boys Club, Eskaton Sabuj Sangha, Rapid Foundation and Azad Sporting Club.
Young Cricketers, Indira Road Krira Chakra, Magnum Cricketers, Dhanmondi Pragati Sangha and Baridhara Dazzlers are placed in Group C while Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity, Young Pegasus Club, Dhaka Wonderers Club, Orient Sporting Club and Uttara Sporting Club will compete against each other in Group D.
The second round games will begin from Friday.
