The two-day player transfer of the Dhaka Premier League for the cricketers outside the national team will take place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
The player transfer of the traditional fifty-over tournament for the national pool cricketers earlier took place on August 11-12 and returned to its original trend where the players can choose their clubs after the controversial “players by choice” system was scrapped last season.
Most of the cricketers are relieved that the old system of player recruitment has returned in the domestic cricket league which is one of the main sources of income for the country’s cricketers.
Earlier in the first phase of the player transfer for the national pool cricketers, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim joined Prime Doleshwar along with Mominul Haque and Shafiul Islam while Gazi Tank Cricketers roped in Tamim Iqbal who will reportedly receiving the highest payment in the league. Shakib al Hasan is likely to lead Gazi Tank.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Brothers Union, Partex and Old DOHS, however, have not registered a single national pool cricketer and are expected to recruit some national discards to their sides today.
