In order to cope with the Australian and New Zealand conditions in the upcoming 2015 ICC World Cup, the Bangladesh cricket team will leave Dhaka on January 26. This means that the national side will reach down under with just 12 days to go to the mega event.
Australia and New Zealand are the joint hosts of the ICC flagship event which is set to begin on February 14 and end with the final game on March 29.
Bangladesh will be based in Brisbane and are set to hold training sessions there to polish their skills and display a solid performance in the world event.
The cricket operations department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has lined up a string of practice matches against different local teams to cope with the conditions and pace-friendly wickets.
The Tigers will play a couple of games against Australia Cricket XI at the Allan Border Oval Cricket Academy prior to playing the ICC-approved warm-up matches after February 6.
“We are able to confirm that we will play two friendly matches against Australia Cricket XI before the start of the World Cup campaign. We are trying to arrange more matches against local teams through our channels,” BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus told the media yesterday.
“We are trying to rope in the rest of the coaching staff ahead of the August-September overseas tour of the West Indies. We, meanwhile, have communicated with some foreigners and tried to negotiate but we are yet to finalise any deal with them,” Jalal informed.
The competition will witness a total of 49 matches played across 14 venues in Australia and New Zealand.
Australia will stage 26 games in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney while New Zealand will host 23 games in seven cities - Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Napier, Nelson and Wellington.
