Update : 28 Mar 2014, 01:37 PM

India secured their place in semi final after a comfortable 8-wicket victory against host Bangladesh in the super ten encounter of the World T20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

The 2007 champions is the first team to seal the spot in knockout round after some outstanding cricket performance throughout the tournament so far and have rightly won both their matches against Pakistan and West Indies comprehensively.

A tremendous 105-run second wicket partnership effort by Rohit Sharma (55) and Virat Kohli (50*) guided India to chase the target and ensured a berth in the semi-final.

Pacemaker Al-Amin Hossain crafted first breakthrough for Tigers as he sent Shikhar Dhawan (1) back to pavilion in a tremendous delivery.

Bangladesh made 138 runs losing seven wickets in 20 overs in their must win game.

A 45-run partnership effort by Nasir Hossain (14) and Mahmudullah (33*) in the slog overs guided tigers' total to set this target.

Anamul powered a magnificent 44 off 43 balls hitting five boundaries and two maximum before picked up by Mishra.

Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim added 24 runs hitting 21 deliveries.

Tamim Iqbal was caught at slip in an Ashwin delivery adding only 6 runs while Shamsur Rahman was sent back to the pavilion with a duck and the wicket made a hat-trick chance for Ashwin.

However, Ashwin couldn’t manage to pick another in the next ball.

A brilliant delivery by Kumar bowled Shakib Al Hasan, he went out with just one run.

Earlier, India won the toss and was elected to field first.
