The home side could not come out from their losing streak as the runners up of the last Asia Cup Bangladesh finished the tournament with empty hands. Looking ahead to the T20 World Championship, Mushfiqur Rahim informed that going so close to winning and failing is disappointing and hard work is needed before the World Cup yesterday at Sher-e-Bangla National stadium.
“It’s disappointing losing matches closely when we have the ability to do much better and I think we were unlucky sometimes and sometimes we made mistakes but we tried hard but there were some mistakes which cost us after getting close to win in three matches.
“In terms of results you can say we are not playing to our potentials, but we have bounced back after the match against Afghanistan. Our bad luck is that we made mistakes in crucial times and we made mistakes in all the three departments. However, we have ten days before the World T20 and we will try to comeback well,” said Mushfiq.
However, the 25-year old informed that T20 is a different format where confidence is very important and getting back Mashrafe, Tamim and Gazi will add to the strength of the side.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh could not came out from their losing streak from the Sri Lanka series and when he was asked if there was any tiredness amongst the players, Mushfiq informed that it was mental tiredness that was the main barrier due to several successive losses.
“I don’t think we have any physical tiredness but yes there are some mental issues where we are trying to avoid the small mistakes but can’t get over it. We never lose too many close matches like this time where earlier we get those chances after long time. However the consistent performance is something we can take positives from into the future,” he explained.
