Mushfique plays, Tigers choose to field

Update : 01 Mar 2014, 07:37 AM

Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim will play against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup at afternoon, alleviating fears that he might be dropped because of injury.

The information was obtained from the playing eleven list published by the match officials hours before starting the match on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh won the toss and put Afghanistan to bat first at Fatullah, Narayanganj. They are playing with a team strained with absence of Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan.

Mushfique said he was not feeling 100% after hurting his shoulder in the match against India. “But, I have taken a lot of medication to stay fit in this match.”

With Mashrafe's absence Abdur Razzak will have to lead the bowling. The Tigers should be thinking of other economic spells for the rest of the bowlers.

On the other hand, Afghanistan will look to take on Bangladesh in positive spirits after a creditable performance against Pakistan.

The pitch at Fatullah has not been easy in the afternoon hours. Mushfique thought the ball will keep low, what he said after winning the toss and choosing to field.
