Dhawan out on 94

Though the last one was in a Test match against New Zealand, this was the second occasion in his last three games that Shikhar Dhawan narrowly missed a hundred. He had put effort and created the platform to make India to a competitive target against Sri Lanka but failed to make the effort memorable. Dhawan failed to react in time to a quicker ball from Ajantha Mendis, missed his pull shot and was bowled.

DK’s stumping drama

Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik looked comical as he missed a stumping opportunity of Kumar Sangakkara on 30. Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery on the pads missed Sangakkara, bounced to Karthik, who had to stretch to his right to collect it. Karthik swung his hand towards the stumps but he astonishingly missed the stumps with Sanga out of the crease. On his second attempt, Karthik did break the stumps but by that that time Sanga, was in the safe zone.

Pitch side parlour

During the interval of the ongoing Asia Cup cricket matches, Kapil Dev, Wasim Akram, Sunil Gavaskar, Ramiz Raja talked about the just concluded innings on the edge of the field. There are two parts of the programme - one in Hindi and the other in English. All the famed cricket personalities gather beside the rope and drew the spectators’ attention. What was interesting was that many of them were taking make-up also. A woman remained busy with her brushes and puffs for a few minutes to make the stars ready for the show.
