Defending champions North South University and Independent University Bangladesh won their respective matches in the 7th ULAB Fair Play Cup at the ULAB ground at Ramchandrapur, Mohammadpur, yesterday.
In the day’s first match NSU cruised to a six-wicket win over Northern University of Bangladesh (NUB). Rimon made 40 runs as NUB batted first and posted 116 for six in 20 overs. However, a blistering 27-ball 42 from Muller secured an easy win for NSU as they reached 117 for four in 17.3 overs.
In a close encounter IUB beat Eastern University by 13 runs at the same venue. IUB, despite registering a low total of 115 for six, went on to restrict EU to 102 for eight in their 20 overs. Rafat Waliullah of NSU scored 47 off 49 balls and was later adjudged man of the match.
East West University will meet University of Asia Pacific in today’s first match while Northern University of Bangladesh and South East University will face off in the afternoon game at the same venue.
