Bangladesh national spin bowling coach Saqlain Mushtaq will not be with the Bangladesh national team ahead of the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka later this month. The chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operations Akram Khan made the announcement to the media yesterday.
The Pakistani spin legend was hired for 100 days by the BCB. The board still has 65 days of the contract with Saqlain and looks forward to get the most out of the former Pakistan off-spinner, said the new chairman of the BCB Cricket Operations Akram Khan yesterday.
“We rather want to utilize him into the root levels. Looking into the pipeline, we hardly have any spinner who can replace a spot in the current national squad. The way we are moving, we are in need of getting some quality good spinners ready for future,” said Akram.
The former Bangladesh skipper further informed that Saqlain could be sent to visit different parts of the country to find more leg and off-spinners and hold a month long camp with those cricketers.
“The process is still being planned and will be proposed at the next board meeting and I hope it will get the ‘go’ sign,” said Akram.
Saqlain was primarily assigned with the Bangladesh national team and has worked with the side both at home and away in the 2012-13 season. His last assignment with the team was during the Zimbabwe series in April and May last year.
