Indoor corporate cricket promises exciting finish

Rangs Group, Acme, Dhaka Tribune and Clemon have confirmed their progress to the knock-out stage of the Islami Bank Indoor Corporate Cricket tournament as their respective group champions yesterday.

12 matches took place yesterday. Rangs beat Novocom by 5 wickets in the first match while Trust Bank outplayed Uttara finance by 7 wickets. Partex won their first match against Robi by 4 wickets before losing to Apollo Ispat by 23 runs.

Computer Source confirmed their quarter-final berth with two convincing wins against Grameenphone by 70 runs and Gazi Group by 25 runs. The team comprising of former national stars like Hannan Sarkar and Alamgir Kabir, Clemon also picked up big wins over Banglalion and Suvastu.   

The last day of the tournament today will see the four quarter-finals followed by the semis and final at Mirpur’s Shaheed Sohrawardi Indoor Stadium.

Group A champions Rangs will lock horns with Group C runners-up Apollo Ispat in the first quarter-final at 10am while inspired by former national cricketers Javed Omar and Jahangir Alam Group B champions Acme will face the dark horse of the tournament AB Bank, who secured their last eight spot with a nail-biting 11-run win over Banglalion yesterday, at 11am.

Dhaka Tribune will fight for a berth in the semis against Group A runners-up Trust Bank at 12pm followed by the last quarter-final between Clemon and Computer Source. The two semi-finals will be held at 4pm and 5pm respectively followed by the grand finale at 8pm. All the matches will be televised live on Gazi Television.
