Bangladesh allrounder Mohammed Saifuddin was ruled out of the cricket event of the 20th Asian Games due to a right hamstring injury, said national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan.
He sustained the injury while bowling during a practice session on Saturday. He subsequently was sent to have done an MRI, which confirmed the extent of the injury.
Bayjidul said the allrounder will require three weeks to recover fully from the pain.
"Saifuddin complained of pain in his right hamstring while bowling during the practice session two days ago. Following a physical examination and MRI, the injury was confirmed," Bayjidul said.
"He will require approximately three weeks of rehabilitation to recover."
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has notified the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) regarding Saifuddin's unavailability for the Asian Games.
The BCB will name a replacement for the player, subject to approval from the Games authority.
