Bangladesh Women are set to begin their campaign in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 with a clash against the Netherlands on June 14 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
The schedule and groupings for the tournament were officially announced by the International Cricket Council, confirming Bangladesh’s place in a challenging Group 1 lineup featuring Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan and the Netherlands.
The global showpiece will run from June 12 to July 5 across England and Wales, with 12 teams competing in an expanded format. Over 24 days, a total of 33 matches will be staged at seven major venues, including Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Headingley Cricket Ground, Hampshire Bowl in Southampton and the Bristol County Ground.
Bangladesh secured their place in the main event after an unbeaten run in the qualifiers and will now aim to carry that momentum into the tournament. The Tigresses face a demanding group stage, with a high-profile encounter against Australia scheduled for June 17 at Headingley, followed by another crucial fixture against India on June 25 at Old Trafford.
The title is currently held by the New Zealand women's national cricket team, who lifted the trophy in the previous edition.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty expressed confidence following the team’s strong qualifying campaign. She said the squad was proud of dominating the qualifiers and earning a place among the world’s top teams.
Joty noted that the upcoming tournament presents a fresh challenge, particularly as Bangladesh will be playing in English conditions for the first time. She added that the team is excited about the opportunity and is focused on preparing thoroughly to compete strongly, deliver consistent performances and secure victories for the country.
With a mix of experience and emerging talent, Bangladesh will look to make a significant impact in what promises to be one of the most competitive editions of the Women’s T20 World Cup.
