Kaler Kantho lifted the Pran-Frooto BSJA Media Cup Cricket after beating Channel 9 in the final by three wickets at the hockey stadium yesterday.
Batting first, Channel 9 did not produce the required firepower to counter the efficient Kaler Kantho bowlers and posted 62 for five with Mahfuz and Badhon scoring 10 and 20 respectively, while Atik of Kaler Kantho bagged two wickets for five runs. Chasing the target of 63, Kaler Kantho were ruthless as Jamal Hossain and Biplob Chakrabarty played hurricane knocks to remain unbeaten on 26 and 22 respectively and the target was reached with a full three overs to spare. Jamal was adjudged as the man of the final.
Earlier Kaler Kantho(71/2) beat Rising BD.com (70/4) in the first semi-final while Channel 9 (121/3) ousted Samakal (93/0) by two wickets in the second.
