Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto etched his name into the record books by becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to score centuries in both innings of a Test match on two separate occasions.

Shanto achieved the feat against Sri Lanka on day five of the first Test, following up on his first-innings 148 with an unbeaten 125 in the second innings.

His first instance of scoring twin centuries came against Afghanistan in 2023, when he made 146 and 124.

Prior to Shanto, Mominul Haque was the only Bangladeshi to score hundreds in both innings of a Test, having done so with 176 and 105 against Afghanistan in Chittagong in 2018.

With this latest performance, Shanto also became the 14th batter in world cricket history to achieve the feat more than once.

The exclusive list includes legendary names such as Herbert Sutcliffe, George Headley, Clyde Walcott, Sunil Gavaskar, Greg Chappell, Allan Border, Rahul Dravid, Matthew Hayden, Aravinda de Silva, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, Jacques Kallis, and David Warner.

Among them, Gavaskar, Ponting, and Warner stand out as the only players to have accomplished the feat three times in their careers.
