Update : 15 Jun 2025, 09:49 PM

Bangladesh are set for a busy schedule in the fourth cycle of the International Cricket Council's World Test Championship, running from 2025 to 2027.

They will play 12 Tests - six at home and six away - mirroring their fixtures from the previous cycle.

The Tigers will kick off their campaign with a two-match series against Sri Lanka, starting June 17 in Galle.

This series also marks the beginning of the new WTC cycle.

The second Test will be held in Colombo from June 25.

Bangladesh finished seventh in the last cycle (2023–25), registering four wins in 12 matches - their best WTC performance to date.

They had shown steady progress: no wins in the inaugural cycle (2019–2021), followed by one win in the second (2021–2023).

In total, Bangladesh have played 31 Tests across the three completed WTC cycles, winning five, drawing two, and losing 24.

Despite modest numbers, Bangladesh's Test graph has been on an upward trend since the introduction of the WTC.

This time around, they will face Pakistan, the West Indies, and England at home, and tour Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Australia.

Each series will comprise two matches.

Notably, the tour to Australia in August 2026 will be their first Test series on Australian soil since 2003.

Bangladesh will host Pakistan in March 2026 for their second series of the cycle.

Later that year, they will welcome the West Indies in October before flying to South Africa in November.

Their final series of the cycle is scheduled for February 2027, when they host England for the first time since 2016.

Although Bangladesh’s overall Test record remains a concern, they have reason to be optimistic.

They are unbeaten in their most recent Test series against four of the six teams they’ll face this cycle - drawing with Australia, England, and the West Indies, and famously defeating Pakistan 2-0.

Only Sri Lanka and defending champions South Africa have beaten them in recent series.

Nine teams will participate in this WTC cycle.

The points system remains unchanged: 12 points for a win, four for a draw, and six for a tie.

The final is proposed to be held at Lord’s in June 2027.

While Bangladesh will play the joint-fewest Tests (12), this cycle offers another opportunity to build consistency and push for higher placement in the WTC table.
