Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has been cleared of suspect bowling action.
The 37-year old left-arm spinner had failed the test twice but the latest results suggest that Shakib has finally managed to clear the air around his bowling action.
The development should have come as relief for Shakib who was excluded from Bangladesh's Champions Trophy squad this year.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board national selection panel was not in favour of including Shakib in the team just as a batter.
Having been suspended to bowl meant that the all-rounder could not be part of the International Cricket Council event which he had earmarked as a farewell tournament in international cricket.
Shakib faced the bowling test for the third time and it proved lucky as he cleared his latest bowling action test in England.
When contacted by a leading cricket-based website, the former Bangladesh captain confirmed the news and said, “The news is right (passing about the bowling test) and I am cleared to bowl again.”
Shakib fell into trouble with bowling action during his stint in a County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September 2024.
The England and Wales Cricket Board subsequently suspended the Bangladesh bowler following an independent evaluation that declared his action illegal.
Shakib following the ban underwent two reassessments, first in England and then in India but had failed in both the attempts following which he was suspended from bowling in all forms of cricket.
Shakib last appeared for Bangladesh in October 2024 during the tour of India.
In Kanpur, Shakib had expressed his wish to play farewell game in Mirpur in front of the home crowd.
The wish however, was left unfulfilled as the former member of the parliament of the fallen Awami League government Shakib has not been able to enter Bangladesh since August 5 last year.
