Former Bangladesh opener Hannan Sarkar has stepped down from his post as member of the national selection panel.
The former Bangladesh opening batsman has made the decision in order to focus on his coaching career.
Speaking to the media Sunday, Hannan informed that he has submitted his resignation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board Saturday.
Hannan will finish the job as national selector at the end of February 2025.
“There is no issue at all with my role in the board. It is simply that the I felt I have a future in coaching career. I feel that I can contribute more to Bangladesh cricket through coaching,” said Hannan.
“I believe I have been doing well as a member of the national selection panel. I was thinking [of switching career to coaching] for quite a long time. Now I have proceeded with it officially,” the former Bangladesh batter added.
Hannan was appointed as national selector in March 2024.
He was the selector of Bangladesh Under-19 when the side lifted the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2020.
The 42-year old has played 17 Tests and 20 One Day Internationals for Bangladesh.
