The Bangladesh Under-19 women's team ended their Twenty20 World Cup mission with a victory when they crushed the West Indies by 10 wickets at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Tuesday.

The victory came on the day when their senior women's team suffered an eight-wicket defeat to the same opponents in Saint Kitts.

The match was hit by rain and eventually reduced to a 13-over game.

Bangladesh won the toss and put the Windies in to bat first.

Thanks to excellent bowling from Nishita Akter Nishi, who scalped 3/11, Bangladesh restricted the Caribbean side to 54/6.

Anisa Akter Soba complemented Nishi with 2/13.

Amrita Ramtahal was the top-scorer for the West Indies with 16 not out while Naijanni Cumberbatch made 13.

Bangladesh reached 55 for no loss in 8.5 overs with Juairiya Ferdous making highest 25 not out and Fahmida Choya adding an unbeaten 14.

Bangladesh won three out of five games in the tournament but despite their sterling effort they could not make it to the semi-finals.

The young Tigresses beat Scotland and Nepal in the group phase before losing to Australia.

They made it to the Super Six stage where they got the opportunity to play two matches.

In the first game, they lost to India that eventually led to their exit from the semi-final race.
