The Bangladesh Cricket Board and Nic Pothas have mutually agreed to end his tenure as fielding coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team, ahead of the expiration of his two-year contract.
Pothas, who joined the Bangladesh coaching staff in April 2023, had served as the team's assistant coach before taking on the responsibility of fielding coach.
After a fruitful tenure, the 49-year old former South African batsman expressed his desire to step down for family reasons following the recent series in the West Indies.
Before his time with Bangladesh, Pothas had an extensive coaching career, including stints as head coach of the Windies (2018-2019) and Sri Lanka (2017-2018), and fielding coach roles with both the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury has thanked Pothas: “We thank Nic for his dedication and valuable contributions to Bangladesh cricket. His efforts and his overall coaching expertise have been greatly appreciated. We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
