Few hours after he was dropped from the Champions Trophy-bound squad, Liton Das hit his first century in recognized Twenty20 cricket.
The Dhaka Capitals opener followed his 43-ball 73 in the previous match against Sylhet Strikers with this century – 55-ball 125 not out against Durbar Rajshahi, an innings that was laced with 10 fours and nine elegant sixes.
With these two innings, he showed the consistency that was the reason behind his axing from the national team.
He is the eighth Bangladeshi in Bangladesh Premier League history to strike a century.
Tamim Iqbal and his Dhaka teammate Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored centuries twice in BPL.
His unbeaten 125 is the fourth highest individual knock in BPL and second biggest among Bangladeshis.
The West Indies’ Chris Gayle with 146 holds the record of the highest individual innings in BPL while Tamim's 141 not out is the second highest.
