Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan’s bowling action is under scrutiny, according to several media reports.
It was reported that Shakib’s bowling action raised eyebrows during his stint with English county club Surrey in September.
If that be the case then this is the first time the 37-year old left-arm spinner's bowling action has been questioned.
According to a Bangladesh Cricket Board official, the county authorities have raised concerns about Shakib’s bowling action and the cricketer has been informed of the matter.
Shakib is expected to undergo testing at a lab in England soon.
The incident however, has no relation with him missing the upcoming One Day International series against hosts Afghanistan.
Shakib is barred to play only in England until he passes the bowling action test.
The Bangladesh cricketer is free to continue playing in international cricket and other domestic leagues.
“Since the game wasn’t an international, BCB has not been communicated officially on the matter. We however have heard about it,” said a BCB official requesting anonymity to the media Monday.
Shakib played for Surrey before the Test series against hosts India in September.
He featured in just one match for Surrey where he finished with four wickets in the first innings and five in the second.
The former Bangladesh captain went on to play the two-Test series in India as no questions or concerns were raised with his bowling action back then.
