Mushfiq becomes first Bangladeshi batter to score 6,000 Test runs

Mushfiq achieved the feat in his 93rd Test and 172nd innings with 11 centuries and 27 half-centuries along the way

Experienced campaigner Mushfiqur Rahim has become the first Bangladeshi batsman to score 6,000 runs in Test cricket.

The veteran middle-order batter reached the landmark during the ongoing Dhaka Test against South Africa in Mirpur.

Before the first Test against the Proteas, Mushfiq’s Test runs stood at 5,961.

He scored 11 in the first innings and remained unbeaten in the second innings on 31 after day two which means his tally in Tests is 6,003 at the moment.

Mushfiq achieved the feat in his 93rd Test and 172nd innings with 11 centuries and 27 half-centuries along the way.

Left-handed opening batter Tamim Iqbal is second in the list of highest run scorers for Bangladesh in Tests.

The southpaw has 5,134 runs from 70 Tests (134 innings) while all-rounder Shakib al Hasan is third with 4,609 runs from 71 Tests (130 innings).
