Tigers seal historic Test series win against Pakistan

Bangladesh sealed a dominating 6-wicket victory against Pakistan and achieved a historic 2-0 Test series win away from home in Rawalpindi Tuesday

Bangladesh sealed a dominating six-wicket victory against Pakistan and achieved a historic 2-0 Test series win away from home at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Tuesday.

Experienced campaigners Mushfiqur Rahim (22*) and Shakib al Hasan (21*) were at the crease when Bangladesh secured the famous win.

The Tigers lost both the openers in the first hour of the fifth day’s play after resuming on 42 for no loss.

Both openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam went back to the pavilion after scoring 40 and 24 respectively.

Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto (33) was unbeaten in the middle with Mominul Haque (20) after 34 overs with 122 runs on the board at the lunch session on day five.

Later skipper Shanto got out scoring 38 after the lunch interval while Mominul was soon dismissed for 34. 

Earlier, Bangladesh pace bowlers Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana shared nine wickets to help dismiss Pakistan for 172 in their second innings on the fourth day.

Hasan took 5/43 and Nahid finished with 4/44 to leave Bangladesh needing 185 for a 2-0 series win.

Salman Agha top-scored for the hosts with an unbeaten 47 while Mohammad Rizwan made 43. 

Bangladesh won the first Test by 10 wickets and have now clinched their first ever Test series victory over Pakistan.

Previously, they won only two series away from home, against the West Indies in 2009 and Zimbabwe in 2021.

2ND TEST 

Bangladesh 262 (Liton 138, Shahzad 6/90) and 185 for 4 (Zakir 40, Shanto 38) beat Pakistan 274 (Ayub 58, Miraz 5/61) and 172 (Salman 57*, Hasan 5/43) by 6 wickets
