Bangladesh left-arm paceman Mustafizur Rahman starred for Chennai Super Kings with a four-wicket haul against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Friday’s Indian Premier League opener in Chennai.
Batting first, RCB were off to a good start provided by openers Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis (35), putting on 41 runs before Fizz struck in the third ball of the fifth over, dismissing the South African batter who was caught by New Zealander Rachin Ravindra in the outfield.
The lad from Satkhira took three more deliveries before striking again in the same over, inducing an edge off Rajat Patidar (nought) with wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni doing the rest.
Mustafizur again came up with a double strike in the 12th over, this time getting the prized wickets of Kohli and Australian all-rounder Cameroon Green.
Kohli was out for 21 as Ravindra took his second catch of the evening while Green made 18 before being castled by the Fizz.
Bengaluru eventually posted 173 for six with Mustafizur leading the way with 4/29 from his quota of four overs.
