Bangladesh left-arm spinner Nahida Akter was rewarded for her consistent performances in 2023 as she was included in the International Cricket Council Women’s team of the year for One Day Internationals.
Nahida bagged 20 wickets in 11 ODIs last year, second highest in women’s ODIs in 2023 behind Australia’s Ash Gardner with 24 from 13.
She earlier became the first Bangladeshi to be nominated for the ICC Women’s player of the month award in December last year.
Nahida starred for the Tigresses against Pakistan with her seven wickets at home inspiring her side to a series victory.
She also impressed in the home series against India, notching six scalps at an average of 15 as the women in red and green drew the three-match series 1-1 after the third game ended in a tie.
There were no Bangladeshi representatives in the ICC Women’s team of the year for Twenty20 internationals.
World cricket’s governing body also announced the men’s team of the year in Test, ODI and T20I but no Bangladesh player made the cut.
