Former Bangladesh One Day International captain Tamim Iqbal has revealed his intent to divulge the complete details surrounding his exclusion from the World Cup squad after the national team's departure for India Wednesday afternoon.

In a Facebook post in the morning, Tamim stated: "I will convey crucial information via a video message concerning what has happened in the past few days, after the departure of the Bangladesh national team for India.

"Numerous incidents have surfaced in the media over the past few days. I believe that both the Bangladesh team and my dedicated fans and supporters have a rightful claim to a clear and comprehensive understanding of the situation."

Previously, former skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza expressed his thoughts in a Facebook post, saying: "Misinformation can be spread by anyone. In Tamim's case, it is important to clarify that he was not dropped from the team; rather, he chose not to be part of it.

"There is a substantial difference between exclusion and personal choice, and I believe Tamim deserves at least the minimum respect for his decision. As for why Tamim decided not to be in the team, I do not have the answer to that question. Only Tamim can shed light on this matter, and perhaps he will do so in due course of time, allowing us all to gain a better understanding."

The Bangladesh Cricket Board Tuesday night announced a 15-man squad for the mega event with Tamim being the notable omission.

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu explained to the media why Tamim had been excluded from the squad for the World Cup in India.

“We are all aware that Tamim is a long-term injury concern. He returned for the New Zealand series. After the second match there was a bit of a complaint. We considered his injury concern when not taking him in the squad,” Nannu told a press conference.

“We spoke to everyone concerned before taking this decision. We discussed it with Tamim. We discussed it with the team management, and we did not want to take a risk in a long World Cup campaign."
