Former Bangladesh middle-order batsman Nasir Hossain has been excluded from the Bangladesh Premier League players’ draft and will not be able to take part in any domestic league as he was charged under the Emirates Cricket Board Anti-Corruption Code for breaching different counts.
Nasir scored 366 runs from 12 games in the last BPL for Dhaka Dominators and also took 16 wickets but will now be ineligible to play in any domestic tournament in the country until proven not guilty.
“We have excluded Nasir from the BPL players’ draft. Even he will not take part in any domestic tournament until he has been cleared by International Cricket Council against his charges,” said chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu to the media Friday.
Charges against Nasir relate to attempts to corrupt matches in the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League – these attempts were disrupted.
Right-handed batter Nasir has been charged with breaching three articles.
Article 2.4.3 - Failing to disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official receipt of a gift worth over $750.
Article 2.4.4 - Failing to disclose to the DACO full details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in Corrupt Conduct under the Code.
Article 2.4.6 – Failing or refusing, without compelling justification, to cooperate with any investigation carried out by the DACO in relation to possible Corrupt Conduct under the Code.
Nasir in the 2021 ADT10 played for and led Pune Devils, a team which were later removed from the tournament.
