Bangladesh wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim is set to miss the final Super Four match against India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
In a recent press release, it was announced that Mushfiq has been granted an extended leave by the Bangladesh Cricket Board to prioritize being with his newly born child and family.
BCB cricket operations committee chairman, Mohammed Jalal Younus, expressed full support for Mushfiq's decision, stating, "Mushfiq has informed us that his wife is still recovering, and he needs to be by her side and with their children at this time. We fully understand his situation and have decided to permit him to skip the game."
Mushfiq, who had returned to Bangladesh to witness the birth of his second child, was initially expected to rejoin the national team in Colombo for the match against India.
However, in light of his family's needs and his wife's ongoing recovery, he will remain in Dhaka with his loved ones.
Bangladesh lost both their Super Four games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka and are already out of the equation to get to the final where India lie in wait.
