Three Bangladesh matches among nine Cricket World Cup 2023 fixtures have been rescheduled as the International Cricket Council revised the schedule of the 50-over global event starting from October this year.
Among changes involving Bangladesh games, the Tigers will play England in Dharamshala on October 10 in a day match as opposed to the day-night encounter in the previous schedule.
The men in red and green will face New Zealand in Chennai on October 13 and it will be a day-night tie whereas the previous schedule of this day clash was on October 14.
The third change for Bangladesh is their match against Australia which will be played on November 11 in Pune instead of November 12.
The clash between India and Pakistan was originally slated to take place in Ahmedabad Sunday, October 15, but this has been moved a day earlier and will now be held at the same venue Saturday, October 14, reports ICC.
Indian media reports said Ahmedabad officials had raised concerns about their ability to provide adequate security because the match was originally scheduled at the start of a nine-day Hindu religious festival, reports AFP.
Ahmedabad is where Hindu-nationalist Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's political career began and the showdown will take place at the stadium bearing his name.
India and Pakistan are bitter adversaries and only play cricket against each other in international tournaments due to longstanding political tensions.
Pakistan had agreed to visit India after they accepted to jointly host August-September's Asia Cup, allowing India to play their matches in Sri Lanka.
But it was only this week that the Pakistan Cricket Board got approval from its government to make the India trip for the 50-over World Cup.
England's fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi will be moved from Saturday, October 14 and will now be held 24 hours later Sunday, October 15.
Pakistan's contest against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has moved from Thursday, October 12 to now being played Tuesday, October 10 and Australia's big match against South Africa in Lucknow moved back 24 hours and will now be played Thursday, October 12 instead of Friday, October 13.
Meanwhile, India's last league game against the Netherlands has now been shifted from November 11 to 12, a day-night affair to be played in Bengaluru.
The World Cup commences Thursday, October 5 when 2019 finalists England and New Zealand clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the event culminating in the final at the same venue Sunday, November 19.
Fixtures for the 50-over World Cup were originally published in June after weeks of delays arising from Pakistan's reluctance to travel to India.
Wednesday's overhaul of the schedule, less than two months before the tournament begins, came after the Board of Control for Cricket in India said foreign teams had requested changes.
